A Better You requires knowledge!
My mentor taught me that you cannot rise above your knowledge. You are what you are today because of what you know. There is a fascinating scripture in the Bible about this and is found in Hoesa 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;
because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you [AMP]
It is clear that your success and failure depends on your KNOWLEDGE!
Your are experiencing destruction in your life because of the lack of knowledge. In this scripture context, not only there was a lack of knowledge but also there was a rejection of knowledge. I want to say you can succeed by just praying and fasting alone...but it is not the truth. You must Learn....You must drop your pale in other's well-- The Well of Wisdom and knowledge. You must create an atmosphere around you all the time to encourage yourself for learning.
Why pursue knowledge?
There are many reasons...but for this study, I want to mention 4 of them.
1. Wisdom and Knowledge are important to be an effective leader...
2 Chronicles 1:10 says, "Give me wisdom and knowledge , that I may lead this people,
for who is able to govern this great people of yours?" [NIV]
If someone is following you...you better get Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding. Solomon understood this fact. He knew the only way he can lead this great nation (people) is with Wisdom and knowledge. So he used his ONE WISH to get that very thing from the LORD. He also know that Wisdom and Knowledge can produce everything else he needs in his life.
2. Knowledge Provides Depth, Insight And Substance To Your Conversation
Job 34: 35-37 says, "Job speaks without knowledge ;
his words lack insight....and multiplies his words against God." [NIV}
Conversation without knowledge can often put you in great danger. It can weaken your influence and isolate you from great men and women. Conversation without proper knowledge and understanding is simply a waste of time and prepare trap for your failure.
Proverbs 17:27 Says, " A man of knowledge uses words with restraint,
and a man of understanding is even-tempered". [NIV]
Speak up if you have the knowledge, Listen well if do not have enough of it. You will never fail.
3. Your Attitude Towards Knowledge Shows If You Are Wise Or A Fool.
Proverbs 10:14 says," Wise men store up knowledge , but the mouth of a fool invites ruin"[NIV]
If you love Wisdom and Knowledge, You are wise. You can determine this by looking at ones library, by listening to their conversation and their hunger for more knowledge. A Wise man is a walking store house of knowledge. He is a magnet for information. How is your storehouse today? Is it filled with Good knowledge? Is it full? overflowing? When the knowledge in you overflowing, your life will benefit others.
4. Knowledge Will Help You To Escape From Any Danger.
Proverbs 11:9 - "With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor,
but through knowledge the righteous escape". [NIV]
I want you to take a few minutes and find more scriptural reasons to gain knowledge and understanding. Evaluate your life and identify the areas that you lack Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding. If you want to achieve your uncommon dream, you better start fill your KNOWLEDGE STOREHOUSE!!! Knowledge is power and it gives you strength. A Man of Knowledge increases strength(Prov. 24:5).
Remember, A Better You is one that diligently purses, embraces and stores knowledge.... Stores a lot it!!!
